Access at both ends of the move changes how long it takes, and sometimes how many movers and what equipment are needed. A ground-level home with the truck parked at the front door is the quickest move there is. Every flight of stairs, every lift trip and every metre between the truck and the door adds time.
The Gold Coast adds a few of its own. High-rise towers in Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Main Beach usually need a lift booking and a loading dock slot through the building manager, some gated estates ask for truck and crew details before the day, and beachside streets around Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach often have limited kerb parking close to the door.

Disassembly needed to get an item out of the house safely is part of the move. Boxes the crew packs are covered in the normal way, while damage inside boxes you pack yourself is only covered where the crew handled them negligently.
Some items need extra people, extra equipment or a specialist provider. List them when you request your quote so the right crew turns up, because a provider who is not equipped for an item has to decline it on the day.

As a guide, they commonly sit between about $600 and $3,000 or more, depending mainly on the inventory, the access at both ends and the distance. Every provider holds at least $10 million public liability cover, verified before activation. It covers damage to property, such as walls, floors or a building’s lift, rather than the goods being moved.
Cover for your belongings while they are on the truck is the provider’s own goods-in-transit policy, and limits vary between providers. Ask for the policy details before moving day, and extra cover can be priced through their insurer.
Note visible damage on the inventory at delivery and report it within 48 hours. Hidden damage found while unpacking can be reported within 7 days of delivery.
